BMW is adding another incentive to its latest Neue Klasse electric vehicles by offering complimentary public charging credits. The automaker announced on Thursday that buyers and lessees of its 2027 electric models will receive $500 in charging benefits.
The offer covers the i5, i7 and iX3, with the credits remaining valid for one year from the vehicle’s purchase date.
Of the total $500 benefit, $300 can be used across more than 15 public charging networks, including Ionna, Shell Recharge, ChargePoint and EVgo. The remaining $200 is exclusively redeemable at Ionna charging stations, a network backed by BMW and several other automakers.

To redeem the charging credits, owners must activate an account through the BMW app. Once enrolled and using BMW ChargingNetwork for payment, eligible charging sessions are automatically deducted from the available credit balance.
In addition, BMW is providing buyers of qualifying 2027 EV models with a complimentary one-year Ionna membership. The membership offers a 25% discount on charging sessions across Ionna’s rapidly expanding fast-charging network.
While the $500 charging incentive may appeal to prospective buyers considering these models, there is an important point worth noting based on experience driving all three vehicles.

The BMW electric i5, with certain variants, offers a driving range of more than 300 miles. However, the i7 and iX3 stand out with more advanced technology and specifications. Both models are built on BMW’s Neue Klasse architecture and feature a redesigned digital interface, including the innovative Panoramic Vision display positioned beneath the windshield. The iX3 also delivers a range of over 400 miles and supports charging speeds of up to 400 kW. BMW is expected to gradually introduce similar technologies and capabilities across its wider model range, including the next-generation i5.
