ZF’s Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) division has secured a groundbreaking supplier deal with Ford Trucks, propelling its dominance as Europe’s leader in electric drives. Under this long-term agreement, Ford Trucks will integrate ZF’s advanced zero-emission technologies into its new lineup of electrified heavy trucks.
Ford Trucks, known for its innovation in the heavy commercial vehicle industry, reinforces its dedication to sustainable transport solutions through this collaboration. ZF’s CeTrax 2 dual electric central drive will power Ford’s forthcoming Electric Rigid Truck, debuting at IAA Transportation 2024.
The CeTrax 2, with its modular design, allows manufacturers to easily switch between internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric drivetrains within the same production line, ensuring flexibility as e-mobility volumes ramp up.
ZF Board Member Professor Dr. Peter Laier underscored the significance of this alliance, stating, “With Ford Trucks, we have gained a major international customer for our new e-mobility drive platform. This underlines our leading position in Europe for electric commercial drives.”
Emrah Duman, Vice President of Ford Trucks, expressed equal confidence in the partnership: “We are glad that a long-established brand like ZF is one of them. Ford Trucks has always been at the forefront of innovation in the heavy commercial vehicle industry, and this new agreement with ZF further solidifies its mission to lead the shift towards sustainable transport.”
As part of this agreement, ZF will also provide Ford Trucks with its Electrically Powered Hydraulic Steering Pump (EPHS). The pump, driven by an e-motor, ensures efficient hydraulic flow for steering, independent of the truck’s drivetrain.
