Volvo Trucks has landed one of its biggest deals ever, with Italian logistics giant Lannutti Group ordering 1,500 Volvo FH Aero trucks. This major purchase is part of Lannutti’s goal to revolutionize its fleet and boost sustainability.
Lannutti Group, based in Italy, operates over 2,500 trucks across eight European countries, ensuring nonstop service. The new order includes Volvo’s advanced Camera Monitor System, which improves aerodynamics and safety by replacing traditional mirrors.
Valter Lannutti, CEO of Lannutti Group, spoke about the company’s dedication to reducing emissions and ensuring driver safety. “The fleet renewal principle for us at Lannutti Group is to prioritize low-emission vehicles while offering a high level of comfort and safety to our drivers, protecting them and all the other road users,” he said.
“In addition to the fuel-saving I-Save technology already 100% adopted in the fleet we are now aiming to grasp the benefits coming from the Camera Monitor System and improved aerodynamic design. This partnership with Volvo will allow us to continue our journey towards zero emissions,” he added.
The new trucks will primarily use Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), a sustainable fuel capable of reducing CO2 emissions by up to 90%. This choice highlights Lannutti’s commitment to environmentally friendly practices.
The Volvo FH Aero stands out for its focus on fuel efficiency and safety. Its aerodynamic cab design improves fuel efficiency by up to five percent. The Camera Monitor System further enhances fuel savings and road safety by offering better visibility for drivers, especially in difficult conditions.
Recent improvements to the Volvo FH powertrain, including the I-Save technology, have made a major step in reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. These advancements result in lower operational costs and a reduced carbon footprint.
The Volvo FH Aero also features a revamped interior to enhance driver comfort and offers connected services that provide fleet operators with comprehensive vehicle performance insights.
Available in four versions – FH Aero, FH Aero Electric, FH Aero gas-powered, and FH16 Aero – the new trucks will be delivered to Lannutti Group throughout 2024 and 2025.
Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, expressed his satisfaction with this major order, saying, “This really is proof that we have done the right thing with the new Volvo FH Aero. It not only supports our customers in reducing fuel costs and CO2 emissions, but it is also one of the safest truck models for their drivers to operate.”
