Volkswagen has revealed the pricing for its new 2025 Golf GTI and Golf R models. The 2025 Golf GTI starts at $33,670, whereas the Golf R is priced at $48,325. Notably, the Golf R no longer offers a manual transmission for the 2025 model. Replaced by the VW’s DSG gearbox has resulted in a $1,720 price increase. In return, both models get a performance boost, with an additional 13 horsepower and 15 pound-feet of torque compared to their previous versions. The 2025 VW Golf lineup undergoes major changes in both pricing and specifications.
The Golf R and Golf GTI are equipped with turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The Golf R’s lineup includes a Black Edition variant, which features darkened exterior elements and carbon-fiber interior accents. Starting at $49,640 both trims of the Golf R offer a new Euro Style package for an extra $3,795.

For the 2025 model both the GTI and Golf R have received updates, featuring revised exterior styling and enhanced interior technology, including a larger infotainment screen. With the 2025 lineup, the manual transmission option has been discontinued in the United States. Instead both the GTI and Golf R come equipped with Volkswagen’s seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, the Golf R boasts a new 19-inch wheel design, which is 20% lighter than the previous version’s wheels. A 12.9-inch touchscreen running VW’s latest operating system is now standard on both models. Additionally, the company has restored physical controls to replace the frustrating touch-sensitive controls found in earlier models.
