VinFast, Vietnam’s rising automotive star, is shaking up the electric vehicle (EV) market with its VF 8 model. Though still gaining traction in Europe, this vehicle has begun to capture the interest of early adopters, drawn by its distinct combination of design, technology, and value.
French systems engineer Armelin Asimane, one of the first to own a VF 8, found its unique design and advanced features compelling. “I was drawn to the VF 8’s striking design and advanced technology. As a newer brand with room to grow, VinFast was the perfect fit, allowing me to make a statement on the road with its innovative features,” Asimane remarked after receiving his VF 8 in May.
As early owners from both Europe and Vietnam share their experiences, the VF 8 emerges as a compelling option for those eager to embrace the future of driving.
The VF 8 stands apart in the crowded EV market, not just another option but a thoughtfully crafted vehicle blending classic and modern aesthetics. This design, a result of VinFast’s collaboration with the legendary Pininfarina, offers a balanced yet distinctive look. Its wheelbase, extending to 2,950 mm, ensures a spacious and comfortable interior, ideal for families.
Ngoc Anh, a proud VF 8 owner in Vietnam, highlights the vehicle’s practicality. “The space inside is roomy, comfortable for my family of five. The backrow can be folded back, bringing even more convenience,” Anh noted after five months of driving. The dual trunk system offers ample storage, setting the VF 8 apart from others in its segment.
Technology takes center stage in the VF 8, a vehicle loaded with features like a 15.6-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, customizable LED lighting, and heated seats for all passengers. Typically reserved for luxury vehicles, these features enhance the driving experience.
The virtual assistant stands out as a major innovation, allowing drivers to control many of the VF 8’s functions through voice commands. Early owner Tran Minh Long of Vietnam shared his satisfaction: “Instead of fumbling with buttons, I can control everything with my voice, starting with ‘Hey VinFast.’
Long also praised VinFast’s continuous updates. “VinFast keeps surprising us with updates, even on a model that’s been out for almost two years. I can now control the air conditioning, lock the doors, and even open the trunk remotely through the app. It’s incredibly smart and convenient.”
VinFast’s VF 8 enters the market strategically priced to compete with established European EV brands, offering exceptional value for discerning buyers.
VinFast’s Vietnamese origin may surprise some, yet the company’s foundation is solid. Vietnam’s manufacturing sector, contributing over 20% of the nation’s GDP, continues to rise as a global powerhouse. In 2023, foreign direct investment in Vietnam’s manufacturing sector surged to over $23.5 billion, underscoring its growing importance.
VinFast taps into this robust manufacturing base, producing high-quality EVs poised to compete globally. Backed by Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate, VinFast enjoys financial stability and a clear vision for long-term success. Vingroup’s chairman, Pham Nhat Vuong, has committed to supporting VinFast’s growth, reinforcing the company’s prospects in the global automotive arena.
