The budget-friendly 2026 Tesla Model Y Standard, which trims features from the current version to reduce costs, is now available in Europe.
Tesla has begun offering its more affordable Model Y Standard in Europe, just three days after its U.S. debut. While the U.S. version faced criticism over a long list of removed features that didn’t justify the modest price drop, the European version retains more features and comes with a greater price difference, a more appealing deal in a market where Tesla sales have recently declined sharply.
Manufactured in Germany for specific markets rather than in the U.S., the European Model Y Standard keeps some features that were removed from the American version. These include ‘Basic Autopilot’ with lane-centering assist, an FM radio tuner, and power-folding side mirrors—though they still lack auto-dimming.
Starting at €39,990, it’s priced €10,000 below the current Model Y (€49,990), which Tesla now brands as the ‘Model Y Premium.’

The European Model Y Standard, like its U.S. counterpart, has dropped several features, including front and rear LED light strips, 18-inch ‘Aperture’ wheel covers (which reportedly conceal steel wheels), a power-adjustable steering column, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats.
The interior now features a combination of cloth and leather-look upholstery instead of full leather-look trim. Additionally, the 8-inch rear touchscreen has been removed, and the rear air vents are now manually adjustable.
The Model Y Standard retains the ‘closed’ roof design with non-transparent glass and internal headlining from the U.S. version, despite earlier speculation that the budget model would come with a steel roof.
Meanwhile, although Tesla released a lower-cost Model 3 Standard in the U.S., it has yet to reach European markets like the Model Y has.
