Stellantis, the multinational automobile manufacturer, announced today its commitment to investing in a new ‘grEEn-campus’ at its Mirafiori site in Turin, Italy. The transformation program aims to foster innovative, sustainable, and collaborative designs, thus consolidating Stellantis’ automotive design, research and development, and central functions. The new campus will join other Stellantis facilities in Poissy, France, and Rüsselsheim, Germany.
The grEEn-campus is conceived as a hotbed for ideas, intended to stimulate creativity and efficiency and provide an attractive work environment. The transformation aligns with Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 strategy, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2038. The campus name symbolizes the company’s commitment to the Environment and Employees, aspiring to be Energy positive and encouraging continuous Education for a better Employee Experience.
Xavier Chéreau, Stellantis Chief Human Resources & Transformation Officer said, “With each new grEEn-campus, we are rethinking our iconic buildings to better respond to our new hybrid ways of working, as a significant number of our colleagues are taking advantage of flexible remote working, while also contributing to the Company’s carbon footprint reduction.”
“We want to offer our employees a completely reimagined experience in terms of time spent on site by encouraging intra- and inter-business exchanges conducive to co-development and collective intelligence, complementing the experience of working remotely. It’s an ambitious project, both for the Company and its employees, and one that will help us achieve our goals of reaching carbon neutrality and becoming a great place to work,” Chéreau added.
The reimagining of the buildings will support Stellantis’ goal of carbon neutrality by 2038. The new offices will be energy positive, with renovated buildings aiming for carbon neutrality. Key energy and thermal performance features include photovoltaic panels, ultra-low-energy ventilation technology, material reuse, environmentally efficient architectural choices, and abundant green spaces.
The Mirafiori project symbolizes Stellantis’ dedication to social and environmental responsibility. In addition to reducing the company’s carbon footprint, the grEEn-campus supports a positive impact on local communities through educational initiatives.
This triple-digit million euros investment at Mirafiori underscores Stellantis’ commitment to Italy and complements other advancements in Turin, including Stellantis’ first Circular Economy Hub, the Battery Technology Center, the e-Transmissions Assembly joint venture with Punch Powertrain, and the Turin Manufacturing District. The firm also maintains robust links with Turin’s Polytechnic University, enhancing its innovative potential.
