Škoda Auto, the Czech automobile giant, has released its latest offering – the second-generation Kodiaq SUV – from its Kvasiny plant. This decision marks Škoda’s step into a future where sustainability and technological advancement are predominant.
Back in 2016, the Kodiaq was the vanguard of Škoda’s SUV lineup. Today’s unveiling of its successor is not just a routine upgrade. The company has poured 49 million euros into revamping the Kvasiny facility, ensuring it’s at the forefront of modern production techniques and eco-conscious methodologies.

A strategic reshuffle has seen the Škoda Superb’s production shifted to Bratislava, Slovakia. This decision isn’t just a logistical move; it’s a tactical play to ramp up Kvasiny’s capacity for producing its flagship SUVs. With room for an extra 150,000 units annually, the Kodiaq and Karoq models, the facility can churn out 410 Kodiaqs each day, a testament to Škoda’s bullish outlook on the SUV sector.
Unveiled in Berlin on October 4, the second-generation Kodiaq is more than just a vehicle; it’s a showcase of Škoda’s innovative spirit. The new design language, dubbed Modern Solid, blends with an interior that champions space and sustainability. Advanced features like Škoda Smart Dials and next-gen LED matrix headlights combine aesthetics with function.
The Kodiaq caters to a range of preferences with its diverse powertrain options. From a nimble 110 kW (150 hp) engine to a robust 150 kW (204 hp) variant, each model promises a responsive ride. Notably, the series introduces a plug-in hybrid option, pushing the boundaries with an electric range surpassing 100 kilometers.
