Scania has rolled out ProDriver, a cutting-edge digital coaching service crafted to elevate driver skills and slash fuel consumption by as much as 5%. This innovative service embraces gamified learning, offering a fresh, engaging alternative to traditional training methods.
Andrea Wetterberg, Head of Services Portfolio at Scania, remarks, “With this service we can help our customers reduce their fuel consumption and improve their overall Total Cost of Ownership, as well as help them meet their sustainability targets.”
ProDriver’s Unique Approach
Available through the Scania Driver app and My Scania, ProDriver caters to trucks with combustion engines, especially those in long-haul and regional operations. Using real-time driving data on key factors such as idling, anticipation, and coasting, it transforms insights into practical, sustainable driving habits.
ProDriver builds upon Scania’s renowned Driver Evaluation service by delivering an interactive, bite-sized learning experience. Drivers can access short lessons via text, video, and audio formats, and engage in challenges designed to reinforce their new skills. Rewards are offered to sustain motivation, while fleet managers can monitor driver progress.
Transforming Driver Development
ProDriver marks a bold step toward optimizing fuel efficiency and reducing environmental impact. By 2025, all new Scania trucks with combustion engines will feature this service, which will also be available for existing models.
“Scania ProDriver does not replace regular driver training but it truly increases the opportunities for professional drivers to develop further,” says Wetterberg. “Offering a digital service for driver management on this scale is an industry first that we believe will make a substantial impact in the transport business.”
