Rivian Automotive has officially opened sales for its Rivian Commercial Van to fleets of all sizes across the United States. The vehicle, which serves as the platform for Amazon’s custom electric delivery van (EDV), has been designed with a strong emphasis on safety, driver comfort, sustainability, and total cost of ownership.
Engineered for safety, the Rivian Commercial Van includes advanced features such as automatic emergency braking, collision warnings, and 360-degree visibility, positioning it among the safest commercial vehicles on the market today.

Following the conclusion of Rivian’s exclusivity agreement with Amazon, the company has been conducting trials with large fleet operators across the U.S. to refine its fleet management process in preparation for mass-market availability. These pilot programs have facilitated the transition to broader commercial sales.
The Rivian Commercial Van is available in two sizes, the 500 and the 700, offering a payload capacity of up to 2,663 pounds and a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of up to 9,500 pounds. Rivian’s proprietary software controls key vehicle functions, including door access, charging, and acceleration, enhancing efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness for fleet owners.

Tom Solomon, Senior Director of Business Development at Rivian, highlighted the success of the company’s commercial vans through existing partnerships. “Amazon currently operates more than 20,000 of our electric delivery vans, which have collectively delivered over a billion packages in 2024 alone.”
“Over the past year, we have focused on testing with major fleet operators, and the results have been highly encouraging. As a result, we are excited to now open sales to fleets of all sizes, whether they require a single van or thousands. Our vehicles are designed to be among the safest on the road while also enabling fleet owners to reduce operational costs and carbon emissions,” he added.
