Polestar, the distinguished electric vehicle manufacturer, is actively expanding its commercial footprint and retail operations with an ambitious plan to penetrate seven new markets by 2025, with an expanding product range. This involves transitioning to a non-traditional agency sales model across Europe, offering customers enhanced flexibility and access to Polestar vehicles.
This month, Sweden and Norway adopted this new sales model, with other major markets poised to follow in the second half of the year. Despite these shifts, customers retain the ability to purchase their preferred Polestar models online or through an enlarging network of Polestar Spaces and service points.
The company’s expansion strategy targets new territories including France—Europe’s second-largest market for electric vehicles after Germany—plus the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Thailand, and Brazil. These markets represent significant growth opportunities and will be accessed through local distribution partnerships.
Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, highlighted the strategy’s importance, stating, “Expanding our retail operations with new and existing partners will enable us to reach more customers. Through these partnerships and expansion, we will capitalize on our strong brand and growing model line-up.”
Accompanying its geographical development, Polestar announced pivotal management appointments to bolster growth and streamline operations in key markets. Anders Gustafsson assumes the role of Head of North America, taking the reins from Gregor Hembrough, who transitions to lead Global Sales Operations. Matt Galvin steps in as the new UK Managing Director, succeeding the retiring Jonathan Goodman. In Norway, Marius Hayler takes over from Alexander Hørthe, bringing extensive leadership experience to his new role as head of the Nordic region.
Kristian Elvefors, Head of Commercial at Polestar, expressed enthusiasm about the new leadership team, remarking, “I am delighted to welcome this group of talented and experienced leaders to the Polestar team. Through these appointments, we are strengthening our sales teams and bringing in additional expertise at a pivotal point in our development, as our model line-up expands to include two new SUVs.”
