Polestar and Volvo have unveiled a new audio experience for music lovers, particularly fans of The Beatles, through a unique collaboration with London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios. The Geely-owned brands are introducing an ‘Abbey Road Studios Mode’ in their electric SUVs equipped with Bowers & Wilkins sound systems.
The feature is being delivered as a free over-the-air software update to the Volvo EX90 and Polestar 3. It will also be built into the upcoming Volvo ES90 from the factory. All models come with a high-end 25-speaker, 1610-watt Bowers & Wilkins sound system with Dolby Atmos.

The new mode includes four audio presets, each developed in partnership with Abbey Road engineers and inspired by the studio’s legendary acoustics and original EMI-era equipment:
- Intimate – Delivers a warm, detailed sound with vintage character.
- Open – Captures the natural richness of a live studio space.
- Energized – Mimics the dynamic feel of a live studio performance.
- Expansive – Immerses the listener in studio ambience with powerful resonance.
Additionally, a Producer mode lets users fine-tune the tonal balance and acoustic settings to their preference.

Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller said the update elevates an already premium in-car sound system to new heights, offering an experience that feels as if the listener is inside the famed London studio.
Volvo’s Chief Engineering and Technology Officer, Anders Bell, highlighted the innovation as a demonstration of how software updates can enhance customer value.
Bowers & Wilkins sound systems are also featured in luxury models from Aston Martin, BMW, and McLaren, but this Abbey Road integration marks a first-of-its-kind experience exclusive to the Volvo and Polestar lineup.
