Nissan has set a new precedent in vehicle security within the United Kingdom, introducing the Stolen Vehicle Tracking (SVT) function via the NissanConnect Services app. This initiative underscores Nissan’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of technology for enhancing user safety and vehicle security, demonstrating a proactive approach to automotive innovation.
In collaboration with Vodafone Automotive, Nissan has developed this service to utilize sophisticated GPS technology, allowing for the precise tracking of connected vehicles. Offered as a subscription, it grants law enforcement the capability to locate and recover stolen vehicles efficiently. A notable feature includes the ability to remotely deactivate a vehicle’s ignition, courtesy of Vodafone operators, to aid in the recovery process.
Eligibility for this advanced service extends to owners of select Nissan models: ARIYA, Qashqai from June 2022 onwards, and X-Trail since September 2022. Vehicle owners can activate this service through the NissanConnect Services app’s “Nissan Store,” with a £99* annual subscription fee guaranteeing enhanced security measures.
The introduction of Stolen Vehicle Tracking affords numerous benefits to Nissan vehicle owners, including constant support, straightforward online activation, and immediate alerts in case of unauthorized towing. This service also provides international support, ensuring effective communication between Vodafone Automotive operators and European law enforcement for a seamless recovery operation.
Guillaume Pelletreau, Vice President of Electrification and Connected Services at Nissan AMIEO region, highlighted the service’s significance, stating,“With the addition of Stolen Vehicle Tracking to the suite of functions on the NissanConnect Services app, customers will enjoy added reassurance to the existing comfort and convenience offered by their Nissan vehicle via the app.”
This feature enriches the NissanConnect Services app’s array of functionalities, which already includes remote control of the horn and lights, door locking and unlocking, vehicle locator, and, for electric models, remote climate control. Additionally, the app provides insights into vehicle health, driving behavior, and various alerts, thereby elevating the driving experience.
Nissan’s rollout of the Stolen Vehicle Tracking function not only solidifies its commitment to customer well-being and convenience but also signals a shift towards integrating more sophisticated digital solutions into its vehicles. This initiative positions Nissan at the forefront of connected car technology, promising an unmatched blend of security and convenience for its customers.
