Nissan Motor Acceptance Company (NMAC) and Infiniti Financial Services (IFS) have expanded their SignatureFLEX lease program to cover drivers with legacy leases maturing on or after February 1, 2025. This move enables eligible lessees to purchase additional miles up to 30 days before the lease ends, offering enhanced flexibility and convenience.
The decision comes in response to evolving driving trends, with 10,000-mile leases now more popular than 12,000-mile options among Nissan and Infiniti customers. Additionally, demand for ultra-low 5,000-mile leases has doubled over the past two years.
Jim DeTrude, Vice President of NMAC Sales & Marketing, stated, “SignatureFLEX is an innovative lease program that puts customers first by offering them the flexibility to manage mileage needs while avoiding lease-end overage penalties. By including legacy leases, we’re providing a more tailored experience that fits their lifestyles while reducing unexpected costs.”
Since its launch in October 2022, SignatureFLEX has saved lessees approximately $4.5 million in overage fees, with over 30 million additional miles purchased. The program allows customers to buy extra miles at $0.10 per mile, significantly less than the lease-end penalties of $0.25 per mile.
Eligible lessees can purchase mileage via NMAC and IFS web portals or mobile apps. Recent updates to the program remove daily purchase limits, allowing customers to acquire as many miles as needed in a single transaction.
From 2025, vehicles with compatible connected car technology will also enable in-vehicle mileage purchases. This feature will provide automatic notifications on current and projected mileage, streamlining the process further for customers.
