Nippon Express USA, has launched its first EV truck at its San Antonio Sales Office, marking a major advancement in sustainable logistics. This move aligns with the broader environmental goals of NX USA, aiming to establish a prominent global presence in the logistics sector while actively combating climate change.
As a subsidiary of NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, NX USA adheres to strategies recommended by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). The incorporation of electric trucks into their operations not only slashes CO2 emissions but also empowers their customers to achieve similar environmental goals, thereby fostering ecological preservation alongside business growth.
The urgency for adopting electric vehicles in logistics aligns with federal targets, where the U.S. aims for such vehicles to constitute 50% of all new vehicle sales by 2030. California sets an even more ambitious goal, aiming for all medium- and heavy-duty vehicles to be zero-emission by 2045. This regulatory landscape compels logistics firms to innovate to remain competitive and compliant.
Following the early period deployment, NX USA plans to elevate its fleet of electric trucks, adding 14 more vehicles across cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Raleigh, North Carolina within this fiscal year. This fleet expansion is expected to reduce the company’s own CO2 emissions by around 11% during its inaugural year.
NX USA also assists customers facing challenges in reducing their emissions by implementing customized EV truck operation schedules and quantifying potential CO2 savings, thus supporting their efforts to diminish emissions from their logistics activities (Scope 3).
By these measures, NX Group demonstrates its dedication to long-term sustainability management, aiming to foster improved living conditions and the development of sustainable societies through responsible business practices.
