Nigeria-based NEV Motor Group, known for delivering top-tier electric vehicles, has unveiled the NEVT6 bus, marking Nigeria’s debut in locally manufactured electric vehicles, in a significant stride toward sustainable energy. Alongside these buses, the company also launched charging stations and premium taxi services aimed at promoting Nigeria’s transportation infrastructure.
Federal dignitaries, industry leaders, and global stakeholders attended the launch event in Abuja. The NEVT6 bus was lauded for showcasing Nigeria’s potential as a hub for clean energy innovations and advanced manufacturing.
NEV founder and CEO Mosope Olaosebikan declared that the launch represented a pivotal moment for African self-reliance and the green energy revolution. Reflecting on NEV’s journey, he recounted overcoming market skepticism, policy barriers, and technical challenges and stressed that the NEVT6 bus symbolizes Nigeria’s ingenuity, determination, and independence. The NEVT6 bus combines advanced technology with affordability.

“Tonight, we declare that the future of mobility isn’t imported; it’s built here, charged here, and driven here. We’re converting raw materials into high-value products on Nigerian soil,” Olaosebikan added. He also noted the vehicle’s zero-emission design is crucial for achieving national carbon neutrality goals.
Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, commended NEV’s efforts, highlighting Nigeria’s abundant lithium resources as a key factor in manufacturing affordable and sustainable electric vehicles. Nigeria is not only advancing in the electric vehicle industry but also ensuring that its raw materials are converted into high-value products within the country, he stated.
Nnaji underlined the government’s dedication to carbon neutrality, pointing out that the NEVT6 bus, with its zero emissions, is essential to Nigeria’s green energy future.

Minister of State for Trade and Investment John Owan Enoh outlined the project’s economic potential, stating that NEV is advancing President Buhari’s vision for industrialization and job creation. He described the NEVT6 bus as more than just a vehicle—a blueprint for economic diversification.
In line with the National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP), this initiative is expected to create thousands of jobs while reducing dependence on fossil fuel imports.
The NEVT6 bus, as per the manufacturer, offers a 300km range on a single charge, is built to withstand African road conditions, and is 30% more cost-efficient in operations compared to diesel alternatives.
