Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), headquartered in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, heralds the advent of the latest Canter light-duty truck across Japan. Commencing February, this revamped model becomes accessible at MFTBC dealers and regional sales centers nationwide, signifying a pivotal refresh for the esteemed truck series.
This redesign, the first of its kind in fourteen years, combines sophistication with functionality through an elegant interior overhaul. Enhanced styling and color schemes, a streamlined dashboard, and optimized entry and exit mechanisms epitomize this transformation.
The introduction of a 10-inch full LCD panel enhances visibility, coupled with integrated steering wheel switches and a touch-panel center display for seamless navigation and radio functionalities, notwithstanding the center display’s status as an optional feature.
Safety emerges as a paramount concern in the Canter’s evolution. Equipped with Active Sideguard Assist® 1.0, this innovation drastically reduces accident probabilities by monitoring the truck’s blind spot and engaging a collision mitigation brake system as necessary. Alongside, Active Brake Assist 5 (ABA®5) elevates emergency braking capabilities with superior spatial recognition and pedestrian detection, underscoring Mitsubishi Fuso’s dedication to vehicular safety.
Complementary safety enhancements include an optional driver attention monitoring system, standard Traffic Sign Recognition, and a Rear View Camera, set to align with upcoming Japanese regulations by May 2024 aimed at mitigating reversing mishaps.
The Canter’s lighting features also witness revolutionary advancements. Standard LED headlights and daytime running lights ensure constant visibility, reinforcing safety. The Intelligent Headlight Control, automatically adjusting beam intensity based on prevailing traffic and ambient light conditions, represents another forward-thinking safety feature.
Additionally, the new LED rear combination lights, shared with FUSO’s ‘Super Great’ and the electric ‘eCanter,’ are optionally available, perpetuating the brand’s commitment to superior design and safety standards.
