Mitsubishi is making a comeback. Five years after its exit from the UK market, the Japanese automaker is preparing for a return. The brand will relaunch in the UK next year, this time under the management of International Motors.
The upcoming Mitsubishi lineup will include vehicles from the brand’s global portfolio, featuring its newest four-wheel drive and hybrid vehicles. New retailers are being selected to manage sales and customer support, adding to Mitsubishi’s existing aftersales network of over 100 locations.
According to International Motors, customer deliveries are scheduled to start in summer 2026.

Mitsubishi halted sales of new vehicles in 2020 after choosing to suspend development of models for the European market. The Colt Car Company, previously responsible for importing Mitsubishi cars into the UK, shut down operations in 2021 and transferred its aftersales and parts business to International Motors.
Mitsubishi kept producing new vehicles for markets outside the UK, and many of these models—including some derived from current Renault designs—are sold throughout Europe.
Frank Krol, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Europe, said, “We look forward to a successful introduction in the UK – a market where our brand continues to have a deep emotional connection with loyal customers.”

Sharon Townsend, head of Mitsubishi UK, stated that “we’ve continued to see enthusiasm for the brand,” adding that this “has strongly influenced the decision.”
Although the UK model range hasn’t been formally announced, the lineup will include the Eclipse Cross, essentially a reworked version of the Renault Scenic EV, and the Outlander plug-in hybrid SUV, whose earlier PHEV generation proved highly popular in the UK.
