Expanding its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the EQE SUV in India, priced at a starting Rs 1.39 crore. This introduction is the third EV from the luxury automaker in the Indian market, following the EQB SUV and EQS sedan.
The EQE 500 4Matic SUV, constructed on the Mercedes-Benz EVA platform, aligns with the global EQE sedan model. It derives power from a 90.6kWh lithium-ion battery pack, producing a potent 300kW (402bhp) and an impressive torque output of 858Nm. The vehicle is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 210kmph and can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in a mere 4.9 seconds.
Designed for extended journeys, the EQE 500 4Matic SUV offers a remarkable travel range of 550km on a single charge. It is equipped with an 11 kW AC wallbox charger, capable of fully replenishing the SUV’s battery in under 10 hours. For a more rapid charging experience, a 170kW fast charger can recharge the vehicle to 80% in just over 30 minutes.
Mercedes-Benz assures a robust 10-year warranty or up to 2.50 lakh km for the EQE SUV’s battery. The maintenance intervals are scheduled at 2 years or 30,000 km. Positioned between the GLC and GLE models, the EQE SUV measures 4,863 mm in length.
Utilizing the Electric Vehicle Architecture 2 (EVA2), the EQE shares design elements and styling cues with the sedan variant, which is not available in India. It flaunts digital LED headlights, a black panel replacing the traditional grille, a discreet three-pointed star, 20-inch aero-customizable alloy wheels, and captivating full-width LED tail lights.
Inside, the EQE SUV features a futuristic ‘Hyperscreen’ dashboard setup, which consists of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch front passenger entertainment screen, all seamlessly integrated under a sleek glass panel.
A unique feature of the EQE is the ability to entertain the passenger without distracting the driver. Cameras monitor the driver’s attention, dimming the passenger screen if the driver’s focus diverts for more than 3 seconds.
The spacious interior accommodates five occupants comfortably and offers a generous 522-litre boot capacity. Other luxurious features include 4-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium 15-speaker, 710-watt Burmester 3D sound system.
The launch of the Mercedes-Benz EQE 500 4Matic SUV reinforces the brand’s dedication to delivering cutting-edge electric vehicles that seamlessly blend performance, luxury, and sustainability.
