South Korea’s LG Group and Germany’s Mercedes-Benz Group are preparing to expand their cooperation in automotive electronics and next-generation mobility technologies.
The expansion strengthens the ties between the two companies, according to a report from Pulse, the English service of Maeil Business News Korea.
Mercedes-Benz Group Chairman Ola Källenius is scheduled to visit LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul, on Thursday for meetings with senior leaders from LG’s major automotive component companies, news agency ANI reported.
Expected attendees include LG Electronics CEO Cho Joo-wan, LG Energy Solution CEO Kim Dong-myung, LG Display CEO Jeong Cheol-dong, and LG Innotek CEO Moon Hyuk-soo.

Industry analysts believe the meeting will extend beyond a routine courtesy call and serve as an opportunity to deepen cooperation in core automotive components, battery technology, and future mobility solutions.
The talks are viewed as an important step in expanding Korea–Germany collaboration in the global automotive supply chain.
This engagement follows a similar meeting held in Germany about 20 months ago during Mercedes-Benz’s Tech Day event in March 2024, which marked the first direct leadership interaction between the two companies.
The Seoul discussion is expected to be the second high-level round of talks focused on expanding joint efforts in vehicle electronics.
Mercedes-Benz is pushing to broaden its next-generation electric vehicle lineup and secure stable supplies of batteries, displays, and sensors, areas where LG Group has established global competitiveness.

In battery technology, LG Energy Solution and Mercedes-Benz are expected to explore increased production capacity and additional joint research and development. Their long-term cylindrical battery supply deal, valued at around 15 trillion won (approximately $10.23 billion), was signed earlier this year.
LG Display, which already supplies OLED panels for Mercedes-Benz vehicles, recently introduced flexible P-OLED technology that has drawn interest across the automotive sector. Analysts say the technology could bring further improvements to Mercedes-Benz’s MBUX Hyperscreen infotainment system.
LG Innotek continues to expand its role in vehicle sensor technology, supplying advanced camera modules, radar, and lidar systems. The company is expected to discuss closer work with Mercedes-Benz on high-precision sensors for future mobility platforms.
Källenius is also set to meet Cho Hyun-sang, vice chairman of HS Hyosung, which operates Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Korea under HS Hyosung The Class, as well as Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Jay Y. Lee, to explore additional cooperation in vehicle electronics.
