At a prestigious gathering in a luxurious villa above Cannes, Automobili Lamborghini unveiled the Urus SE, marking a pivotal moment for the brand with its first plug-in hybrid SUV. Lamborghini’s Chairman and CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, along with Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Federico Foschini, presented this innovative vehicle before an exclusive audience of 425 European aficionados.
Revealed shortly after its global introduction at the Beijing Motor Show, the Urus SE stands as a testament to Lamborghini’s progressive evolution. The SUV merges a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine with an electric motor to achieve a formidable 800 CV. This hybrid arrangement significantly enhances performance while achieving an 80% reduction in CO2 emissions, highlighting Lamborghini’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Stephan Winkelmann shared his enthusiasm at the event, stating, “Thanks to electrification, the Urus SE achieves an impressive level of performance and continues to steer Lamborghini towards the sustainability goals set out in our decarbonisation strategy, Direzione Cor Tauri ( a model for innovation and sustainable progress on the path to total carbon neutrality for Automobili Lamborghini by 2050).”
True to Lamborghini’s heritage, the Urus SE features a striking design with aerodynamic enhancements like new LED matrix headlamps, inspired by the bull’s tail emblem of Lamborghini, and sportier elements including a redesigned spoiler and rear diffuser that elevate downforce by 35% at high velocities.
The interior of the Urus SE is a sanctuary of luxury and advanced technology. It sports a 12.3-inch touchscreen with an upgraded interface offering high-definition graphics that align with the latest advancements introduced on the Revuelto model. The new plug-in hybrid system not only refines the vehicle’s efficiency and dynamics across diverse terrains but also incorporates an electric Torque Vectoring system that optimizes power distribution between the axles.
This SUV showcases extraordinary capabilities with a maximum speed of 312 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.4 seconds. Its versatile driving modes cater to a range of needs, allowing for purely electric operation on city streets or the full power of the hybrid engine for expansive road adventures.
The Cannes event reflected the innovative spirit of the Urus SE, providing guests with a splendid Mediterranean backdrop that complemented an evening celebrating technological excellence and sophisticated luxury.
With the introduction of the Urus SE, Lamborghini not only redefines the parameters of high-performance vehicles but also affirms its dedication to a sustainable future, seamlessly blending eco-consciousness with its legacy of luxury and power.
