Kia introduced its EV5 compact SUV in South Korea on Wednesday, shortly after initiating pre-orders in the UK earlier this week. Kia stated that its newest model, the EV5, introduced after the EV6, EV9, EV3, and EV4, offers top-tier safety and advanced features, positioning it as a standout in its class.
Similar to its international lineup, the electric SUV is offered in three variants: Air, Earth, and GT-Line. Equipped with an 81.4 kWh battery, the EV5 delivers a driving range of up to 460 km (285 miles). Built on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV5 has been in production in China since early 2024 and has been available in markets like Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand for over a year.
Kia has confirmed that the South Korean edition of the EV5 incorporates design and safety elements customized to meet local consumer preferences and regulatory standards.

The compact SUV offers a roomy cabin with 965 liters of cargo capacity and is powered by a front-mounted 160 kW electric motor. All three variants share an 81.4 kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) battery pack, delivering a WLTP-certified driving range of up to 329 miles (530 kilometers).
The Kia EV5 is the first vehicle from Hyundai Motor Group to feature acceleration control assistance, which alerts the driver in cases of prolonged sudden acceleration. Additionally, it supports rapid charging, capable of recharging from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes when using a 350 kW fast charger.
The entry-level EV5 Air is priced at 48.55 million won (around $35,000), while the mid-range Earth variant starts at 52.3 million won ($37,600). The sportier GT-Line version is available from 53.4 million won ($38,400).
