Kia Corporation has partnered with DHL Korea to foster sustainable logistics in South Korea through electric Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) models. The Memorandum of Understanding outlines their commitment to building an electrified logistics ecosystem using Kia’s PBVs.
The collaboration begins with Kia’s PV5, a medium-sized PBV set for production in 2026, followed by the larger PV7 model in 2027. Kia will tailor these models to meet DHL Korea’s operational needs, optimizing productivity and sustainability in logistics.
As part of the agreement, Kia and DHL Korea will also explore PBV-linked services, including vehicle charging solutions and extended warranties, supporting DHL’s goal of a fully electrified fleet.
“Kia plans to improve customer business productivity through supplying PBV models optimised for DHL Korea’s business and working as a partner that actively supports electrification to realise sustainable logistics transportation using PBVs,” said Won-Jeong Jeong, Executive Vice President and Head of Korea Business Division at Kia.
Kia’s PBV program, presented at CES 2024, is central to its future mobility strategy. This initiative follows Kia’s recent agreement with Fujitsu, signaling Kia’s expansion into Japan with PBV sales planned for 2026.
Kia’s PBV models, including the PV5, debuted at IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover, Germany, marking its entry into Europe and reinforcing its aim to lead in PBV technology. Kia continues to explore opportunities in Asia and Europe, setting a new standard for sustainable logistics solutions globally.
