Kia India is poised for a major market disruption with the October 3, 2024, launch of the all-new Kia Carnival. This move aligns with Kia’s broader strategy to deepen its presence in the Indian automotive landscape, bringing cutting-edge global models to a discerning consumer base.
The upcoming Carnival is a key component of Kia’s aggressive rollout plan, which sees several new passenger vehicles entering the Indian market over the next 12 to 18 months. A new compact SUV, slated for 2025, will strategically slot between the Sonet and Seltos, while a refreshed Carens targets mid-2025. Additionally, Kia is venturing into the electric vehicle space with its first locally produced electric recreational vehicle (RV), signaling a bold step towards sustainable mobility.

The Carnival’s introduction as a fully imported model marks a departure from its predecessor’s local production, signaling Kia’s intent to position it as a premium offering. With an expected price tag exceeding Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom), this new iteration stands without direct competition, carving a unique niche above the Toyota Innova Hycross and just below the Toyota Vellfire.
This latest version of the Carnival brings to India a model already celebrated in global markets. The vehicle offers significant advancements in features and design, catering to Indian consumers with a preference for luxury and innovation. Retaining the robust 2.2L four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, delivering 200 PS and 440 Nm of torque, the new Carnival continues with the reliable eight-speed automatic transmission. While global variants include V6 petrol and hybrid options, the Indian market launch will focus on the diesel variant.

Inside, the new Carnival redefines the premium MPV experience with a more sophisticated cabin, reflecting Kia’s latest design philosophy. The vehicle is equipped with advanced features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument console of the same size, and a suite of high-end amenities. These include ADAS, ambient lighting, ventilated and massage seats, automatic climate control, a heads-up display (HUD), a digital rear-view mirror, and a digital key featuring fingerprint recognition.
Kia’s decision to introduce this new Carnival in India underscores the brand’s commitment to delivering top-tier vehicles, blending global innovation with local market insights. By positioning the Carnival as a luxury MPV with unparalleled features, Kia targets a segment of Indian consumers seeking exclusivity, advanced technology, and an elevated driving experience.
