Hesai Technology, a global leader in lidar solutions for autonomous mobility, has expanded its production agreement with a leading U.S.-based robotaxi company in a deal valued at more than $40 million. The agreement, which runs until the end of 2026, designates Hesai as the sole supplier of both long- and short-range lidar systems for the company’s autonomous fleets.
The robotaxi sector is entering a rapid growth phase, fuelled by advancements in Level 4 (L4) autonomous driving technology. Lidar plays a central role in this evolution, offering precise perception capabilities required to ensure safe operations in complex city environments and on highways.

According to Yole Group’s Lidar for Automotive 2025 report, Hesai holds 61% of the global market share in the L4 autonomous driving segment. Its product range includes long-range sensors suited for highway driving and short-range lidars designed for urban navigation, safety, and redundancy, positioning the company as a critical enabler of large-scale robotaxi deployments.
“This expanded agreement demonstrates the confidence leading robotaxi companies place in Hesai’s technology, combining performance, high reliability, and scalable manufacturing,” said David Li, Co-founder and CEO of Hesai. “As the industry moves from pilots to scaled deployments, Hesai is proud to deliver lidar solutions that meet the highest standards of quality while enabling safe and reliable driverless mobility at scale.”
The deal further strengthens Hesai’s global presence and highlights its commitment to supporting the transition from pilot projects to fully scaled autonomous vehicle services with advanced lidar systems that meet the industry’s most demanding requirements.
