Geotab, a top global player in connected transportation solutions, has entered a partnership with Volkswagen Group Info Services AG (VW GIS). This collaboration signals a major step in Geotab’s expanding OEM network, integrating high-quality data from Volkswagen Group’s multi-brand fleets with the power of Geotab’s platform. It delivers advanced telematics and connected mobility without the need for additional hardware installations.
Once fleet operators provide consent, sensors within Volkswagen Group vehicles gather and transmit critical data to the Geotab platform via an API, ensuring seamless data flow. The system processes and transforms raw data into actionable insights, enabling fleet operators to enhance productivity and maintain regulatory compliance. All data remains securely stored under fleet owner control within Geotab’s database, safeguarding both privacy and operational security.
Christoph Ludewig, Geotab’s Vice President for Europe OEM, emphasized the strategic advantages: “With the Volkswagen Group Info Services AG partnership, we are able to reach out and cater to a wider customer base who are in search of fleet management solutions via native telematics. Customers still receive all OEM-specific data points including those from other OEMs in the context of a multi brand fleet ㅡ optimally processed and integrated with other fleet data to provide a 360-degree view of their fleets.”
Geotab’s MyGeotab platform now integrates vehicle data from manufacturers like Volkswagen (VW, Audi, Škoda, SEAT, CUPRA), BMW, Renault, Ford, and Mercedes-Benz, among others. Fleet managers gain comprehensive insights into fuel efficiency, route optimization, electrification potential, and safety improvements, supporting sustainability efforts aligned with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
Patricia Stich, Chairwoman of VW Group Info Services AG, highlighted the operational benefits: “By integrating vehicle generated data from Volkswagen Group produced vehicles with Geotab’s solutions, we empower fleet managers to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability, enabling near real-time decisions without extra hardware.”
This integrated solution becomes available starting September 2024, covering Austria, Germany, the UK, France, and 28 additional European countries. With this partnership, fleet operators gain unparalleled insight into their vehicle operations, empowering data-driven decisions that enhance efficiency and sustainability.
