Kia has launched a new over-the-air (OTA) update featuring a range of upgraded capabilities for its connected vehicles, including a generative AI voice assistant now accessible in the EV3.
The update, applicable to telematics-equipped vehicles from the 2022 model year onward, introduces enhancements to voice control, connectivity, entertainment, and navigation, showcasing Kia’s dedication to improving the digital driving experience.
A standout addition in the update is Kia’s artificial intelligence voice control system, designed to facilitate ‘natural and conversational’ interactions, allowing drivers to adjust various settings through spoken commands.

The update for the EV3 introduces paid access to entertainment platforms like Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, karaoke, and in-car gaming. It also adds a Wi-Fi hotspot, enabling passengers to connect the devices directly to the internet. The AI assistant, which comes with a free trial, supports tasks like trip planning, vehicle control, and information retrieval.
The roll-out also includes an improved electric vehicle route planner to streamline charging. Drivers can set the desired state of charge for the destination or charging station, providing greater control over battery levels. Additionally, climate control and volume can now be adjusted in EV3, EV6, EV9, and Sorento using straightforward voice commands.

The navigation system has received updates across all compatible models with TomTom-powered camera alerts, new destination-sharing options, and refined voice recognition for a smoother user experience. An Emergency Vehicle Alert will now notify drivers when ambulances or other emergency vehicles are nearby.
Kia vehicles from the 2022 model year and later are entitled to two complimentary OTA updates during a one-year trial period. Additional updates can be bought through the Kia Connect Store, accessible via the Kia Connect app. The updates are released periodically, with pricing and feature availability differing by region.
