Geely Auto Group has unveiled the Geely Safety Center, now recognized as the world’s largest and most advanced automotive safety testing facility, marking a major milestone in global vehicle safety development.
Spanning 45,000 square meters and built with an initial investment exceeding RMB 2 billion, the new center is designed to accelerate safety technology innovation and push automotive safety standards beyond current global benchmarks.
The facility enables Geely to conduct comprehensive testing across the full lifecycle of modern vehicles, supporting the rapid evolution of intelligent and new-energy mobility.
The Geely Safety Center covers an extensive range of safety evaluations, including high-speed crash tests, pedestrian protection, active safety simulations, battery and new energy powertrain safety, cybersecurity resilience, and health-related safety assessments.

Unlike conventional testing facilities that focus primarily on vehicle and occupant protection, the center has been developed to support Geely’s broader concept of ‘comprehensive safety’ for the intelligent vehicle era.
Safety at Geely extends beyond the vehicle itself to include human health and environmental impact. A dedicated ‘Golden Nose’ team at the center focuses on identifying volatile materials and odours, detecting harmful substances, and ensuring vehicles meet a strict ‘zero harmful gas and odour’ standard. This approach reflects the company’s emphasis on in-cabin air quality and overall user well-being.
The facility has also set five world records, reinforcing its global significance. It includes the largest automotive safety laboratory, covering 81,930.745 square meters. It also features the longest indoor car crash test track, measuring 293.39 meters.
Another record is the largest altitude- and climate-adjustable wind tunnel for vehicle testing, spanning 28,536.224 square meters and capable of simulating snow, rain, solar radiation, and wind speeds of up to 250 km/h.

The center houses the largest arbitrary-angle car crash test zone, measuring 12,709.293 square meters with impact angles ranging from 0 to 180 degrees. It also offers the highest number of available test types, with 27 different safety tests conducted within a single automaker-operated laboratory.
The Geely Safety Center integrates global best practices in automotive safety development, combining expertise from international safety leaders with Geely’s rapidly advancing in-house research and development capabilities.
The facility is designed not only to meet regulatory requirements but to exceed them, setting higher internal standards for future vehicle programs.
The center also strengthens Geely’s collaboration with leading institutions such as the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) and Tsinghua University.

These partnerships include joint research initiatives and the co-release of the White Paper on the Development of Intelligent Vehicle Safety, aimed at shaping industry-wide understanding and standards for next-generation mobility.
Over the past decade, Geely has invested more than RMB 250 billion in research and development, with safety positioned as a core strategic priority.
The launch of the Geely Safety Center represents a significant step forward in that long-term commitment, providing the infrastructure needed to deliver safer, smarter, and more sustainable mobility solutions for users worldwide, while raising the bar for the global automotive industry in the intelligent mobility era.
