Chinese automotive giant Geely is set to expand its footprint into Uzbekistan by 2025, aiming to offer a new standard of automotive technology, safety, and luxury to Uzbek consumers. With plans to introduce a selection of electric, hybrid, and traditional vehicles, the company is committed to delivering reliable, innovative, and service-oriented solutions tailored to the Uzbek market.
As one of the world’s largest automotive groups and a Fortune Global 500 company—ranked 185th in 2024—Geely brings a wealth of expertise and a robust portfolio of premium brands including Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Zeekr, Lynk & Co, and Smart. Notably, Geely stands as the only Asian car manufacturer in the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), a testament to its role in setting industry standards worldwide.
The company’s global presence is underpinned by extensive design and engineering hubs in cities like Shanghai, Gothenburg, Coventry, and Frankfurt, and a workforce of over 20,000 R&D specialists dedicated to innovation. Leveraging this global expertise, Geely is also the largest shareholder in Daimler Group, collaborating closely with Mercedes-Benz.
Driven by an adaptive approach to technological advancements, Geely has invested heavily in green technologies, shared mobility, and smart vehicle systems. The company’s forward-looking initiatives include the development of new energy solutions, autonomous driving technology, and an ambitious satellite program aimed at supporting autonomous driving and logistics. By 2025, Geely plans to deploy an initial fleet of 72 satellites, part of a larger network of 240 satellites, enhancing applications in logistics, drone navigation, and precision mapping.
Mr. Levi, Geely Auto’s Brand and Communications Manager, stated that the company will conduct extensive market research and consumer test drives in Uzbekistan. This approach will allow Geely to tailor its offerings to meet local preferences and needs. The models showcased will span Geely’s international range, providing Uzbek consumers with access to advanced electric and hybrid options.
Geely’s vehicles have already garnered positive feedback from consumers in Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, building the company’s reputation for safety and advanced technology. “We are confident that Geely will bring a more technologically advanced and safe driving experience to Uzbekistan, as well as reliable and convenient services,” Mr. Levi commented.
With its strong foundation in R&D, commitment to sustainable innovation, and readiness to enter the Uzbek market, Geely is poised to contribute to the country’s automotive landscape with a diverse range of vehicles and cutting-edge services.
