Honda Australia has revealed that its futuristic 0 Series electric vehicle range will be arriving in local showrooms in 2027, following the debut of the brand’s first EV in the country, scheduled for the latter half of 2026.
Introduced during CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2024, the Honda 0 Series—led by the bold Saloon and SUV concepts—marks Honda’s most daring venture into the electric vehicle market to date, featuring strikingly streamlined design, a lightweight build, and a focus on software-driven innovation.
In 2020, the automaker reduced its model range and sales targets as it transitioned to a higher-end pricing strategy. However, Honda now states that it has achieved sufficient stability to expand its product offerings in the Australian market, signaling a shift from its earlier position. Honda Australia had previously informed that there were no intentions to introduce the 0 Series models locally.

The automaker is also planning the reintroduction of the Prelude in mid-2026, bringing back the coupe as a hybrid-only model for the time being. While the specific name hasn’t been revealed yet, Honda has confirmed that its first fully electric vehicle will arrive in Australia in the latter half of 2026, with additional EVs expected in the future.
Although full details are still under wraps, Honda has affirmed that its upcoming 0 Series will feature a new ‘ASIMO’ (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) software platform. The system will incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) and LiDAR-based technology to support advanced driver assistance features, including Level 3 semi-autonomous capabilities. Despite this, Level 3 autonomy is not currently permitted on Australian roads.

Honda Australia has projected that hybrid vehicles will account for 90% of its domestic sales by mid-2026. In May and June 2025, hybrids accounted for 53% of the brand’s local sales, though its most popular model, the CR-V, is the only hybrid option available in the highest trim level.
