Ford Motor Company has once again secured its position at the pinnacle of American automotive industry, leading vehicle assembly, exports, and workforce engagement for the sixth consecutive year, according to the latest data from S&P Global Mobility.
Andrew Frick, President of Ford Blue, underscored the company’s dedication to American manufacturing excellence. “Ford is a uniquely American company,” Frick remarked. “We are proud to serve our customers with vehicles that embody the best of American innovation and ingenuity.”
Demonstrating formidable production capabilities, Ford assembled over 1.8 million vehicles within the United States throughout 2023, surpassing its nearest competitor by 130,000 units. This tally includes the acclaimed F-Series trucks, celebrated for their robust design and versatility, with production lines active across Michigan, Missouri, Kentucky, and Ohio.
Ford’s strategic focus on domestic assembly is evident, with more than 79% of its vehicles sold in the U.S. manufactured on home soil, a figure unmatched by any other automaker. This approach not only enhances Ford’s market presence but also fortifies American jobs and technological advancement.
Globally, Ford stands as the top exporter of American-assembled vehicles, dispatching 260,000 units to international markets in 2023. Key destinations include Canada, Mexico, China, Puerto Rico, and South Korea, with exports accounting for approximately one-seventh of Ford’s total U.S. production, underscoring its significant influence on the global automotive landscape.
Employment is a fundamental aspect of Ford’s operational ethos. The company employs around 57,000 hourly manufacturing workers, making it the largest employer in the U.S. automotive sector. This robust workforce is poised for expansion, including training for nearly 900 new recruits at Michigan’s Assembly Plant, tasked with assembling the iconic Bronco and Ranger models.
With over 2,800 dealerships across the U.S., Ford not only bolsters local economies but also strengthens its role as a central figure in the automotive industry, both domestically and internationally.
