Ford announces the debut of its latest SUV, the Equator, set to eclipse the Ford Everest in performance. This model heralds a significant shift towards sustainable technology, sporting a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Though not yet officially unveiled, leaked visuals of the Equator have surfaced, showcasing its sleek design and robust features. The vehicle’s sophisticated aesthetic complements its advanced engineering, propelling Ford towards a greener future.
The Equator will likely feature a 1.5-liter petrol engine with a 150 hp output. This engine pairs with an 82 hp electric motor and a CATL-sourced battery, cumulatively delivering 218 hp. An alternative setup includes a 1.5-liter EcoBoost petrol engine, which generates 170 hp and 260 Nm of torque, indicating a potential phase-out of the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine variant.
Following the dissolution of its venture with Mahindra, Ford presses forward with the development of a C-segment SUV based on the Territory platform, which it shares with the Equator. Despite this progress, updates on Ford India’s new C-segment SUV remain sparse.
Ford’s launch of the Equator is a strategic move within the global automotive landscape, emphasizing the brand’s dedication to fusing eco-friendly technology with cutting-edge design in its new vehicle generations.
