Daimler Buses Solutions GmbH has initiated construction for an innovative e-bus depot The Hague. This endeavor, commenced at January’s end, stands as one of the subsidiary’s major forays into public transport electrification, aiming to revolutionize The Hague’s mobility landscape.
This ambitious project encompasses the comprehensive electrification of HTM Personenvervoer NV’s depot, a principal operator within the Dutch city. Tasked with the installation of a complete ;e-system,’ Daimler Buses Solutions GmbH will implement 41 charging stations equipped with 122 charging points, supporting charging management, software, and operational concepts. The facility’s commissioning, scheduled for this year’s third quarter, aligns with Daimler Buses’ commitment to delivering at least 95 battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eCitaro city buses to HTM, propelling the city towards a greener public transport system.
Dietrich Müller, Managing Director at Daimler Buses Solutions GmbH, emphasized the company’s dedication to crafting innovative, tailored e-systems for efficient electrified bus fleet operations across Europe, reflecting a commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
E-System: Urban Mobility’s Future
The project blueprint introduces ‘fast lanes’ for HTM’s depot, facilitating swift electric city bus charging during operational hours through high-capacity 360 kW charging stations. This approach ensures electric buses’ rapid recharging and availability. The system also accommodates overnight charging for up to four buses per station at 90 kW, highlighting the infrastructure’s flexibility and efficiency.
With 28 charging stations at the depot capable of charging 109 electric buses simultaneously, and an expansion to three additional HTM-operated sites with 13 more stations, the network of 122 charging points underscores a comprehensive electrification strategy.
Collaboration with ABB E-mobility and Batenburg Techniek for e-infrastructure setup, alongside IVU Traffic Technologies AG for charging management software, exemplifies the vision for turnkey e-infrastructure solutions, ensuring electrified bus fleets’ seamless operation.
Sustainable Future Vision
Daimler Buses Solutions GmbH’s electrification project in The Hague signifies a global shift towards sustainable urban mobility. By offering an integrated system for electric buses, Daimler Buses not only facilitates the transition to electric power but also aligns with global efforts to reduce urban carbon emissions. This initiative exemplifies electrification’s transformative potential in public transport systems, charting a course for cleaner, more sustainable urban environments worldwide.
