Continental is increasing the production capacity of its Rayong, Thailand tire plant by 3 million units annually, with a planned investment exceeding €300 million (13 billion Thai Baht). Supported by Thailand’s Board of Investment under its Economic Recovery Scheme, this expansion will create around 600 new jobs, adding to the current workforce of over 900.
Dalibor Kalina, Head of Continental’s Replacement Tires in APAC, stated that this expansion supports the company’s growth in the Asia-Pacific region and boosts its ability to meet customer demand locally and regionally.
Vignesh Devasenapathy, Rayong Plant Manager, marked the expansion as a milestone alongside Continental’s 15 years in Thailand and five years of production in Rayong. He credited the team’s dedication as key to the plant’s success.
The Rayong facility produces premium tires, including the MaxContact MC7 and lines for electric vehicles. In 2023, it supplied tires to the top five electric vehicle manufacturers in the APAC region. It is also one of Continental’s largest motorcycle tire production sites globally.
The plant prioritizes energy efficiency, using advanced production technologies and automated logistics. A photovoltaic system meets 13% of its energy needs with renewable sources.
Continental continues to invest in sustainability, digitalization, and automation across its 20 tire plants in 16 countries, focusing on innovative technologies and environmentally friendly production methods.
