Chinese automaker Chery is gearing up to introduce its namesake brand to the UK market this year, with the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid SUV.
As China’s leading vehicle exporter for the past 22 years, Chery is the parent company of Omoda and Jaecoo, both of which have generated considerable buzz since arriving in the UK last year. Now, Chery itself is stepping onto the UK stage.
Chery will introduce the Tiggo 8 as its first model for UK drivers, with pricing and specification details to be revealed in the coming weeks, and customer deliveries expected to begin before the end of summer.
The Tiggo 8 SUV comes equipped with Chery’s ‘Super Hybrid’ powertrain, shared with the Jaecoo 7. The system comprises a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine, an electric motor, and an 18.3 kWh battery, delivering up to 56 miles of all-electric driving per charge. Topped up with a fully charged battery and petrol, the Tiggo 8 boasts a total driving range of up to 745 miles, delivering a combined output of 201bhp and 365Nm of torque.

The Tiggo 8 offers a spacious cabin with three rows of seating and is packed with high-tech features, including a wide central touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, and a high-end 12-speaker Sony audio system. Convenience is further boosted by wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, and a sweeping panoramic sunroof. On the safety and convenience front, the SUV comes equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and lane-centering technology. Chery also backs the Tiggo 8 with a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty, underscoring its commitment to long-term reliability.
Rather than launching with a basic entry-level model, Chery is making a bold entrance into the UK market with the Tiggo 8 as its flagship SUV. Another model is set to join the lineup shortly thereafter.
