ChargePoint, a leading provider of EV charging solutions, and General Motors (GM) have announced a collaboration to install up to 500 ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging ports across the United States. This initiative aims to bolster EV infrastructure and make charging faster and more accessible for drivers. The charging locations are planned to be operational by the end of 2025.
Key to the collaboration is ChargePoint’s Omni Port system, which supports both CCS and NACS charging ports, eliminating the need for adapters or dedicated parking spaces for specific connector types. Many of the charging stations will utilise ChargePoint’s Express Plus platform, capable of delivering charging speeds up to 500kW.

Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint, emphasised the importance of the partnership in driving EV adoption, stating, “Together, ChargePoint and GM will deliver a seamless fast charging experience via reliable hardware and industry-leading software.”
Wade Sheffer, GM Energy Vice President, highlighted how the collaboration enhances the ownership experience for GM drivers, adding that the inclusion of ultra-fast charging and innovative Omni Port technology will make EV charging more convenient and accessible.

The initiative includes an incentive program to encourage third-party charge point operators (CPOs) to own and manage EV charging infrastructure, further accelerating the deployment of DC fast charging stations nationwide.
