Changan Automobile has officially entered Indonesia, with two new models set to premiere at Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2025 from November 21–30 at ICE BSD City, Tangerang. The vehicles will target Indonesia’s premium, style-focused urban SUV segment.
“We will officially launch a new product as a first step in introducing Changan’s advantages to the Indonesian people,” said Ariadi, Chief Marketing Officer of PT Indomobil Transport (DIT), at a GJAW 2025 press conference in Senayan on Thursday, October 23.
Changan described its Indonesian debut as a key milestone to showcase a smart, environmentally friendly, and human-oriented vision of future mobility, noting the models are tailored for daily commutes and long-distance travel with an emphasis on design, innovation, efficiency, and comfort.

Changan is partnering with the Indomobil Group as its strategic ally in Indonesia. Indomobil will support brand development through distribution, after-sales, and plans for local manufacturing.
“As part of a long-term commitment, Indomobil and Changan will continue to strengthen cooperation in presenting sustainable mobility solutions, supporting national electrification acceleration, and encouraging the transformation of Indonesia’s automotive industry towards a greener and smarter future,” said Setiawan Surya, Chief Executive Officer of Changan Indonesia.
Henry Huang, Regional Director of the SEA Sales Department at Changan Automobile, said Indonesia offers significant potential in the shift to electric mobility.
“Through a strategic partnership with the Indomobil Group, we are committed to presenting Changan’s global products and technology that are in line with Indonesia’s consumer needs, namely smart, efficient, and sustainable vehicles,” he said.

Changan highlighted its technology backbone, including the Changan Digital Smart Factory in Yubei, Chongqing, developed with China Unicom and Huawei, which the company describes as the world’s first intelligent automotive plant with full 5G and AI connectivity.
The 770,000-square-meter facility has a stated capacity of up to 280,000 units per year and integrates digital production, battery manufacturing, and vehicle assembly.
The automaker said its product strategy rests on three innovation pillars: the Dubhe Plan (next-generation autonomous driving), the Shangri-La Mission (electrification and energy efficiency), and the Vast Ocean Plan (enhanced consumer value and convenience).

As part of Shangri-La, Changan cited the “Golden Shield Battery”, described by the company as a solid-state battery featuring high-frequency wave heating, and its REEV/extended-range EV system that pairs an electric motor with an onboard gasoline generator to recharge the battery automatically.
Changan claims a combined driving range of up to 1,150 kilometers with a full battery and fuel tank, subject to conditions.
With marketing and local production plans underway, Changan said its Indonesia strategy aims to bolster the domestic automotive ecosystem, support the nation’s electrification goals, and contribute to economic growth through advanced, sustainable mobility offerings.
Further details on pricing, specifications, and market rollout are expected at GJAW 2025.
