Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker BYD has launched its premium brand DENZA in Thailand, targeting the country’s high-end automotive market. The event, held on Friday, included remarks from Narit Therdsteerasukdi, secretary general of Thailand’s Board of Investment, who welcomed DENZA’s entry as a milestone for Thailand’s EV industry.
Therdsteerasukdi noted that DENZA’s launch reflects international confidence in Thailand’s market and is expected to support economic growth. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the EV sector, aiming for 30% of annual auto production to be electric by 2030.
BYD has already sold over 56,000 EVs in Thailand. Following the opening of its factory in Thailand, Liu Xueliang, General Manager of BYD’s Asia Pacific auto sales, highlighted that DENZA’s introduction is a strategic step for the brand. Liu believes DENZA, combining luxury and sustainable technology, will appeal to Thai consumers.
As Southeast Asia’s automotive hub, Thailand offers a developed luxury car market, ideal for DENZA’s entry. BYD, a leading global EV manufacturer, has expanded rapidly, with vehicles now sold in 88 countries and production facilities in Brazil, Hungary, Uzbekistan, and other locations.
