BMW has broadened charging options for its electric vehicle range by making them compatible with Tesla’s Supercharger network across the United States.
Starting Wednesday, BMW drivers will have access to more than 2,000 Tesla sites and over 25,000 individual Superchargers. The step aligns with the industry’s shift to the North American Charging Standard (NACS) and complements BMW’s current charging network collaborations.
By adding Tesla Superchargers, BMW now offers access to approximately 180,000 public charging points across North America through networks like IONITY, Electrify America, ChargePoint, and EVgo.

All compatible charging stations are integrated into the vehicle’s navigation system and the My BMW app via Shell Recharge. At compatible locations, charging can begin automatically using Plug & Charge, provided the station supports the feature.
BMW electric vehicles can access Tesla charging stations in two ways. At Superchargers that support only NACS, current models like the i4, i5, i7, and iX need a CCS–NACS DC adapter, which BMW will begin offering as an accessory in the second quarter of 2026.
At locations fitted with Tesla’s Magic Dock, the integrated adapter allows charging without extra equipment, enabling older models such as the i3 to connect to the network.

The automaker has confirmed that beginning in 2026, new models will feature built‑in NACS ports, starting with the i5 M60 and later extending to other vehicles, including the upcoming iX3.
Plug & Charge is now available at Tesla Superchargers for compatible BMW vehicles. Charges follow Tesla’s standard rates for non-Tesla cars, with billing handled through the customer’s Shell Recharge account via the My BMW app.
To use the feature, drivers must enable Plug & Charge in the vehicle and have the required charging contracts in place.
