Bajaj Auto, renowned for its production of motorcycles and three-wheelers, recently inaugurated a sophisticated manufacturing facility in Manaus, Brazil. The event, graced by the Governor of Amazonas and notable dignitaries, marks a major stride in Bajaj Auto’s global expansion efforts.
With operations spanning 100 countries, Bajaj Auto is deepening its international footprint and enlarging its customer base. The new 9,600-square-meter facility is equipped with the latest in manufacturing technology, featuring high-tech engine and vehicle assembly lines alongside robust testing capabilities. This plant is designed to produce 20,000 units per year on a single shift, with scope for future enhancement.
Manaus’s factory, benefits from substantial state-provided fiscal incentives, essential supply chains, and major transportation hubs, optimizing both production and distribution processes.
Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto, emphasized the strategic importance of the new installation. “With the establishment of our plant in Brazil we have achieved a quantum shift in our local capability to fulfill demand,” he stated. Sharma highlighted the warm reception of their Dominar brand in Brazil over the past 18 months.
This facility is more than a production site; it represents Bajaj Auto’s dedication to Brazil’s economic and industrial landscape. “We are excited to be part of Brazil’s growth story and look forward to a prosperous future here.” Sharma continued.
The Manaus facility is replete with automated production lines and sophisticated quality control systems, featuring integrated conveyor and transfer systems that streamline the manufacturing process. The implementation of the Protheus ERP system enhances operational coherence across manufacturing, supply chain management, finance, and human resources departments. While currently focusing on producing Dominar models, the facility is set to broaden its range to include Pulsar models.
