Antolin, a leader in automotive interior solutions, has partnered with E Ink, the pioneer of electronic ink technology, to introduce innovative design elements to vehicle interiors. This collaboration aims to integrate E Ink’s Prism technology into automotive interiors, enhancing user experience, boosting energy efficiency, and offering customizable designs.
The announcement was made at the IZB trade fair, where Antolin is showcasing its cutting-edge portfolio at stand 1217 in hall 1 in Wolfsburg, in line with the event’s theme, ‘Empowering Partnerships.’
Javier Villacampa, Vice President of Innovation & Sustainability at Antolin, explained the significance of this collaboration. “Our objective is to achieve this with utmost efficiency and competitiveness, carefully selecting functions that provide genuine value to users while upholding our commitments to sustainability, safety, and onboard comfort. The technical collaboration with E Ink will help our innovation strategy to meet this significant challenge.”
E Ink’s Prism technology features colored particles that can be electronically controlled, creating dynamic surfaces capable of changing colors and patterns on demand or based on functional triggers like alerts or notifications. Unlike traditional backlit technologies, Prism only consumes power during color transitions, making it highly energy-efficient and contributing to improved driving ranges.
Tim O’Malley, Associate Vice President of E Ink’s US Business Unit, highlighted the broader impact of this partnership, saying, “This collaboration marks a significant step towards creating dynamic, energy-efficient vehicle interiors that not only enhance user experience but also contribute to a sustainable future,” said Tim O’Malley, Associate Vice President of E Ink’s US Business Unit.
“Together, we are redefining personalization for automotive designs, combining our novel ePaper technology with Antolin’s portfolio of technological solutions for car interiors,” he added.
Having already showcased its potential in exterior applications at CES in 2022 and 2023, this technology has been under development for over two years for automotive interiors. The partnership aims to refine and validate the application of Prism technology in real automotive conditions, positioning Antolin as a leading integrator of this groundbreaking innovation.
