Accenture, a global professional services company specializing in digital, cloud, and security solutions, has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras to train professionals in the emerging domain of software-defined vehicles (SDVs), a key focus area for the evolving automotive sector.
The initiative will be delivered through Accenture’s LearnVantage Software-Defined Vehicle Academy in collaboration with the Center of Excellence in Advanced Automotive Research (CAAR) at IIT Madras. CAAR supports innovation and talent development in areas such as electric vehicles, connected mobility, and smart automotive systems.

Designed for working professionals, especially those in original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and global capability centers (GCCs), the training will focus on equipping the automotive workforce with critical digital skills. Course content will cover Internet of Things (IoT), embedded systems, vehicle safety, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and key industry standards, including AUTOSAR and ASPICE. The format will combine self-paced learning with instructor-led sessions delivered by IIT Madras faculty.
“As vehicles transform into sophisticated software-defined machines, the automotive industry requires digital-native talent skilled in AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, and safety systems,” said Kishore Durg, Global Lead of Accenture LearnVantage. “Our collaboration with CAAR at IIT Madras is a game-changer, focused on transforming talent at scale.”
Krishnan Balasubramanian, head of CAAR at IIT Madras, highlighted the partnership’s value in closing the skills gap: “The academia-industry partnership enabled by CAAR is a unique model that creates a win-win for all parties and enables upskilling of the next generation workforce in new areas such as SDVs.”

Thiruppathy (Thiru) Srinivasan, CEO of CAAR, noted the urgency of reskilling as the industry undergoes rapid transformation through electrification, connectivity, and smart technologies.
This collaboration expands upon existing joint initiatives between Accenture and IIT Madras, including a research center focused on robotics, industrial IoT, and digital twin technologies. Accenture’s LearnVantage unit, through TalentSprint, also runs a data science and machine learning certification program with the institute.
Accenture Research projects that digital services in the automotive industry, such as those powered by SDVs, will reach a global market size of $3.5 trillion by 2040, accounting for 40% of the sector’s total revenue.
