Governor Brian P. Kemp announced a strategic development in Georgia’s manufacturing growth with Hyundai Industrial’s commitment to pour $24 million into a Coweta County plant. This facility promises to create 100 jobs, following Hyundai Metaplant’s impactful unveiling last year and enhancing Georgia’s reputation as a magnet for auto industry suppliers.
With this investment, Hyundai Industrial intensified its presence in the United States. Originating from Ulsan, Korea, the company specializes in producing integral auto components like car seats, arm rests, and head rests. Its decades of expertise align with Georgia’s initiative to foster industry growth, particularly in automotive manufacturing.
Woosuck Kim of HDI America shared his enthusiasm about the new venture, emphasizing mutual growth prospects for Coweta County’s community and the company’s workforce. The new facility at 83 Amlajack Way will undergo custom modifications to manufacture components for Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America. The recruitment for manufacturing roles will commence soon with listings on Indeed and workingUS .
Coweta County officials, including Board of Commissioners Chairman John Reidelbach, expressed eagerness about Hyundai Industrial’s choice to locate their operations in the county. They praised the seamless logistical advantages offered by the area’s infrastructure, including I-85, and anticipated significant economic and employment opportunities stemming from this partnership.
This initiative resulted from a concerted effort by the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s (GDEcD) Global Commerce team, the Coweta County Development Authority, and Georgia EMC. GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson highlighted Georgia’s ability to attract such investment, crediting the state’s geographic advantage and community-focused economic strategies.
Georgia’s commitment to advancing industry and technology positions it at the forefront of the automotive and mobility sectors. The state’s pursuit of the electric vehicle supply chain has yielded substantial economic benefits, with investments topping $25.1 billion and the creation of 29,000 jobs since 2020. Remarkably, the fiscal year 2023 reflects a significant increase in automotive industry employment, with supplier investments surpassing $2 billion.
Hyundai Industrial’s investment in Georgia reflects the state’s robust economic landscape, conducive to industrial growth and technological progress, fortifying Georgia’s legacy as a pioneer in the automotive industry.
