Škoda Auto has carved a new milestone in automotive excellence by launching a cutting-edge Parts Expedition Centre in Pune, India. Spanning an impressive 16,000 square meters, this state-of-the-art facility stands as a hub of innovation and sustainability. Dedicated to packaging completely knocked down (CKD) kits of Kushaq and Slavia models, the center facilitates their seamless export from Škoda India’s vibrant industrial landscapes to Vietnam’s Quãng Ninh province’s emerging markets for further welding, painting, and assembly.
Andreas Dick, a pivotal board member responsible for Production and Logistics at Škoda Auto, conveyed the center’s instrumental role in optimizing logistical efficiencies between crucial markets such as India and Vietnam. He articulated a vision of the facility evolving into a formidable logistics nucleus, adeptly servicing the burgeoning automotive sectors across the ASEAN expanse.
Piyush Arora, the dynamic Managing Director & CEO of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited, encapsulated the essence of this groundbreaking initiative. “The establishment of the Parts Expedition Centre represents a strategic advancement in our export capabilities. This facility combines modern infrastructure and sustainability, allowing us to cater more effectively to emerging markets. At the same time, we will keep underscoring our vision of making sustainable, quality mobility accessible worldwide,” Arora stated.
Navigating geographical synergies with precision, the auto parts will embark on a meticulously coordinated journey from Pune to Vietnam, traversing the vibrant channels of the Mumbai port. Vietnam’s Quãng Ninh province is prepped to embrace this influx, with a dedicated assembly line under meticulous construction, projected to spearhead operations by 2024.
Škoda Auto’s momentous foray into the Vietnamese market epitomizes a calculated path in global expansion. Initiated on 23 September, this venture has amplified the automotive landscape, introducing the revered Karoq and Kodiaq models directly from Europe’s esteemed production lines. As the curtains rise in 2024, Vietnam will witness the inaugural assembly of the Kushaq and Slavia models, materializing from meticulously crafted CKD kits exported from India.
Škoda Auto’s vision transcends conventional market entries. Poised to redefine automotive excellence, the company contemplates enriching the Vietnamese market with an eclectic array of models, potentially integrating the illustrious Superb and Octavia. In tandem with evolving consumer predilections, there’s a proactive exploration of introducing the innovative Enyaq series, aligning with the burgeoning affinity for e-vehicles in Vietnam.
Škoda Auto’s latest endeavor echoes a compelling narrative of strategic ingenuity, seamless global integration, and a profound commitment to redefining the paradigms of sustainable and sophisticated automotive mobility.
