Taiwan’s premier electronics firm, AUO is set to acquire the globally renowned Behr-Hella Thermocontrol (BHTC). Sealed at an impressive EUR600m, this deal underscores AUO’s commitment to expanding its global footprint.
BHTC, a collaboration between the esteemed Hella GmbH & Company and Mahle, is a market leader in crafting innovative automotive thermal management systems. Their product range includes advanced air conditioning, heating solutions, and corresponding control mechanisms.
BHTC’s expansive global operations have attracted an elite clientele, prominently featuring industry giants like VW Group, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Honda. The company’s strong financial performance was highlighted with revenue of EUR620m in the fiscal year 2022.
Reports from Taipei confirm AUO’s plan to acquire Hella’s 50% share in the joint venture, Mahle-Behr is also keen to divest its respective stake. This acquisition is contingent upon clearance from international trade and antitrust agencies, with finalization anticipated by mid-2024.

By leveraging BHTC’s premium clientele, AUO aims to introduce groundbreaking cockpit functionalities and advanced display technologies. A particular interest lies in making a mark in the realm of electric vehicle (EV) smart and connected cockpits.
