Jaguar has sealed a pivotal agreement with electric vehicle trailblazer, Tesla, ensuring its forthcoming electric vehicle models have access to Tesla’s substantial Supercharger network across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
This strategic alliance forms a cornerstone of Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) Reimagine strategy, symbolizing Jaguar’s transformative trajectory toward becoming a modern all-electric luxury brand. The partnership aims to offer a superior charging experience to Jaguar’s clientele and to nurture a global EV ecosystem.
Commencing in 2025, all fresh-off-the-assembly-line Jaguars sold within these regions will boast seamless integration with the North American Charging Standard (NACS), eliminating the need for an adapter. Additionally, Jaguar plans to source adapters from Tesla to accommodate current I-PACE drivers as these adapters become available.
This collaboration reflects a coherent stride toward JLR’s ambitious goal of attaining net zero carbon emissions by 2039, by encouraging a shift to electric vehicles among its customers. Mark Camilleri, Director of Electrification Services at JLR, underscores, “Whilst most charging takes place at home when away from home, our clients want access to fast, reliable, and convenient chargers.”
The widely acknowledged Supercharger network by Tesla across North America earns accolades for its reliability and user-friendliness, from the charging port to the connector.
Jaguar’s proprietary battery and power electronics technology have been meticulously crafted to optimize charging rates on both V3 and V4 Superchargers. This ensures that Jaguar drivers revel in a top-tier charging experience, with their vehicles achieving maximum charging power irrespective of the Supercharger version they engage.
Camilleri exuded enthusiasm over the collaboration articulating, “Tesla has created a charging network across the globe that delivers this, and we are delighted to be working with them to provide access for Jaguar clients.” This landmark agreement sketches a future where Jaguar drivers with NACS-equipped vehicles across North American territories will access Tesla Superchargers sans an adapter, etching a significant milestone in Jaguar’s electrification narrative.
