Eager to elevate its automotive sector, Egypt seeks inspiration and guidance from South African auto trailblazers. During a recent dialogue with the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA), Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly showcased Egypt’s comprehensive blueprint for automotive sector enhancement.
Expressing gratitude for the insights and technical support from South Africa, Prime Minister Madbouly remarked, “There is a great opportunity to reproduce this model in Egypt, which has all the necessary ingredients to create a car industry.”
Pivoting towards regulatory advancements, a crucial law unveiled last October shaped the foundation for two governing bodies dedicated to automotive excellence. The Supreme Council of Automobiles, the foremost entity, orchestrates the ideation of strategic initiatives and the meticulous evaluation of programs, all designed to rejuvenate the Egyptian automotive landscape. This council also dedicates efforts to championing sustainable shifts across the broader realm of transportation.
Parallelly, the Environmentally Friendly Automobile Industry Fund emerges as the torchbearer for eco-conscious vehicular advancements. Spawned from the same legislative initiative, its mandate revolves around ensuring a consistent infusion of resources for green vehicle production.
NAAMSA representatives shed light on South Africa’s automotive prowess, underscoring its contribution of a substantial 4.9% to the nation’s Gross National Product (GNP). This industry not only anchors 12.4% of South Africa’s export dynamics but also boasts a vast global reach, dispatching 352,000 vehicles to a diverse 152 countries every year.
Emboldened by these statistics, Prime Minister Madbouly emphasized the blueprint of South Africa’s success and Egypt’s rich potential, Egypt stands poised to sculpt a formidable car industry. The path ahead seems bright as the nation navigates its journey toward automotive excellence, drawing wisdom from its South African counterpart.
