Amid great fanfare, Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur unveiled its ultra-luxurious super tourer, the DB12. This significant launch commemorates two major milestones which include the 110th anniversary of this esteemed UK brand and the impressive 75th year of the DB model line.
The DB12 sports a starting price of RM1,088,000, a figure that precedes the inclusion of duties, taxes, and the cost of bespoke options and customization. For the discerning buyer, Aston Martin introduces an extended warranty coverage of up to 20 years. For an annual RM16,000, owners can enjoy the unrivaled assurance and the flexibility of transferring the remaining warranty years to new owners.
Beneath its sleek hood, the DB12 carries a handcrafted 4.0L V8 twin-turbo engine. Outdoing its predecessor, the DB11, by 24%, this motor promises an exhilarating 680 PS at 6,000 rpm and 800 Nm of torque between 2,750 and 6,000 rpm. To handle this extra power, Aston Martin engineers have significantly overhauled the cooling system, adding auxiliary coolers and boosting thermal airflow.
Roberto Fedeli, Group Chief Technology Officer of Aston Martin, said that the DB12 heralds the beginning of a truly exciting new chapter for Aston Martin. Every element of this car aims for the top. It’s not just about power and performance; it’s about combining these with outstanding handling, heart-stopping acoustics, and unparalleled luxury, ensuring no compromise on any front.
The DB12 rolls out on 21-inch forged alloy wheels, lighter by 8 kg than the predecessor’s 20-inch set, promising an agile ride. An option to upgrade to Carbon Ceramic Brakes enables resistance to brake fade up to 800°C.
Marek Reichmann, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Aston Martin described the DB12 as the ultimate Super Tourer. He emphasized how this luxury vehicle represents a fusion of powertrain, handling, dynamics, and design into an unparalleled driving experience.
With a new, yet classic frontage showcasing the iconic Aston Martin grille flanked by LED headlights, the DB12 is a sight to behold. The sleek 2+2 seater, optimized for aerodynamic efficiency, features innovative rear channels that direct air to enhance downforce, a first for the brand.
“The Aston Martin DB12 is an exciting proposition for Malaysian enthusiasts who have long been romanced by the undeniable appeal of grand tourers, what with the wealth of amazing driving roads we have in this part of the world. Accompanying the visuals is an 11-speaker audio setup as standard, upgradeable to a 15-speaker ensemble co-developed with audio experts, Bowers & Wilkins.
