Porsche AG, the renowned automaker, recently unveiled plans to incrementally acquire all shares of MHP GmbH, the IT consultancy firm, by January 2024. Already a majority stakeholder, Porsche seeks to tap into MHP’s burgeoning potential within the fields of management and IT consulting.
Dr. Ralf Hofmann, co-founder, shareholder, and Chairman of the Board of Management—who holds 18.2% of MHP’s shares—will maintain his position as CEO. This strategic acquisition intends to fuel MHP’s worldwide growth, extending its reach beyond the Group, and broadening its customer base, portfolio, and size.
Highlighting the importance of this strategic move, Dr. Ralf Hofmann expressed, “With Strategy 2030, we have set ourselves ambitious goals. To achieve these, the transfer of shares to Porsche AG is a necessary step. We are driven by the aspiration to make technology a tool for change toward a better tomorrow. We want to play an even bigger role – as a company and as part of society.”
Echoing this vision, Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, and Member of the Executive Board for Finance and IT, stated, “We have big plans for MHP. “We want MHP to continue to experience strong growth, including in additional technological fields such as Software as a Service. We are also open to further acquisitions.”
The Vision of MHP Strategy 2030
Acknowledging digitalization’s transformative potential within an increasingly uncertain global landscape, MHP’s role as a management and IT consultancy remain steadfast under Strategy 2030.
With its inception in Karlsruhe-Ettlingen in 1996, MHP has demonstrated sustainable growth over 27 years. Porsche AG first acquired a 51% stake in MHP in 1998, further amplifying it to 81.8% in 2011. The recent declaration will see Porsche AG owning 100% of MHP’s shares by 2024.
MHP has demonstrated remarkable evolution—from an SAP implementation partner to a reputable process and IT consultancy, and now a globally operative management and IT consultancy. This latest acquisition underscores Porsche’s unwavering commitment to nurturing growth and fostering innovation within the technology and IT consultancy space.
