Honda has announced its latest car into the global mid-size SUV space – the Elevate. The model was revealed in New Delhi, marking a significant expansion of Honda’s portfolio. Notably, India will be the primary production hub for the Elevate, manufacturing for both domestic and international markets. Honda intends to commence bookings for the Elevate in July 2023. The pricing details remain under wraps but are expected to be announced later this year, with speculation suggesting a range between 10.45 to 17 lakh INR.
In terms of design and functionality, the Elevate is a shining exemplification of Honda’s latest vision. It spans 4,312 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, and stands 1,650 mm tall, featuring a commendable ground clearance of 220 mm. Its design aesthetics include a vertical front fascia, squared wheel arches, sleek LED lighting, and dual-tone alloy wheels. Also, it offers a sizable 458-litre boot space.
The interior of the Elevate emanates sophistication with a dual-tone scheme and beige upholstery, accentuated by a clean dashboard design. Key features include a central 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 3-spoke steering wheel, and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional conveniences incorporate wireless smartphone integration for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a rear parking camera.
The safety of passengers has been thoroughly addressed in the Elevate. It comes equipped with the Honda Sensing ADAS suite, comprising collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, road departure warning, and automatic high beam assist.
Under its bonnet, the Elevate is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine, generating 119 BHP at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. Drivers have the choice of either a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission. In a nod towards a sustainable future, Honda has also announced the ongoing development of an all-electric variant of the Elevate.
Once it hits the market, the Elevate will be thrust into a fiercely competitive arena against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and MG Astor, among others. Despite the formidable competition, the Elevate, with its impressive design, innovative features, and efficient performance, underlines Honda’s determination to recapture a significant stake in the dynamic SUV market.
